Elementary School Programs
Building Block Club
Students from Kindergarten through 2nd grade: you will grow plants, build mazes to learn about coding, listen to stories, simulate tsunamis, have fun with archaeology, and watch videos about traveling the world.
Ask questions and have fun while learning about science.
Before you know it, you will be making friends and learning how to change your community, and therefore your world.
Mini Medical
Learn about the human body. What food makes you healthy or sick?
How do your muscles grow? What do they look like on the inside?
Take your own blood pressure and listen to your heartbeat.
Disect a frog!
Little Sisters4Science
Girls in 3rd to 5th grade: You can join the Little Sisters4Science program. You will design your own path with the help of a mentor–a girl who excels in science.
At the end of the program, you will show your friends and your parents/guardians what you learned in the Reflection of Knowledge showcase.
Little Brothers4Science
Boys in 3rd to 5th grade: You can join the Little Brothers4Science program and learn of the rich history of men, especially young men of color, in STEM, and how you can be trailblazers in STEM, too.
At the end of the program, you will show your friends and your parents/guardians what you learned in the Reflection of Knowledge showcase.
STEMQuest
In environments where gender specific programming is not feasible, STEMQuest is Project Exploration’s co-ed program.
Middle School Programs
Sisters4Science
Sisters4Science is a program for girls led by female facilitators who emphasize leadership development through scientific exploration. Designed to get girls interested in science, keep girls interested in science, and equip girls with skills and experiences that enable them to pursue science, Sisters4Science creates a science-rich learning environment that puts girls at the center.
Brothers4Science
Brothers4Science is a program for middle school urban boys in areas with a lack of STEM education and enrichment. Designed to get boys interested in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM); keep boys interested in STEM; and equip boys with skills and experiences that enable them to pursue STEM. Brothers4Science is intended to help boys develop self-esteem about their thoughts, feelings, experiences, and decisions, and expose them to a wide variety of roles played by men in science.
High School Programs
High school programs led by Project Exploration tend to align with the Explore and Pursue phases of the Youth-Science Matrix, which means students are engaged in discrete STEM disciplines or in an apprentice-level engagement with a STEM mentor. However, across all program models, Project Exploration seeks to reinforce the following NGSS Standards:
- Motion and Stability: Forces and Interactions
- Energy
- From Molecules to Organisms: Structures and Processes
- Ecosystems: Interactions, Energy, and Dynamics
- Earth’s Place in the Universe
- Engineering Design

Explore Engineering
The Explore Engineering program includes the Ten80 Student Racing Challenge: a rigorous automotive engineering curriculum teaching teens engineering concepts employed in car racing. They then build their own model race cars that will be entered into a nationwide engineering competition.
This module also includes ProjEx Launch, a curriculum in which students engineer and launch model rockets from scratch using everyday materials.
Environmental Adventurers
Environmental Adventurers is aimed at engaging diverse, urban youth in the environmental sciences, biology, anatomy, and zoology.
Teens develop skills in research in a meaningful and hands-on way.
Forensic Investigators
Forensic Investigators is a popular and rigorous program in which teens gain hands-on experience in a variety of subdisciplines.
They learn about lifting latent fingerprints, firearms and their signatures, the tread wear of tires, biology samples like DNA, microscopic evidence, and drug chemistry.
Sports Science
The Sports Science programs shows teens how to study the healthy human body, how it works during exercise, and how sports and physical activity promote health and performance.
